They name the pattern a piece was cut on. The women’s pattern is narrower at the shoulder and shaped through the waist; the men’s is straighter and longer in the body; unisex sits between the two and runs relaxed. Every product page says which, and the size guide has a measurement table for each. Anyone can buy from any pattern.
Tops run XS to XXL. On the women’s pattern an S is roughly a UK 8–10 and an M a UK 12; on the men’s pattern sizes follow usual UK men’s sizing. Trousers on the men’s and unisex patterns are sized by waist in inches. The size guide has the actual garment measurements, which are more reliable than any label.
Down for knits and anything with stretch. Up for woven shirts and the non-stretch pleated trouser. For the boxy and oversized pieces, take your usual size: the extra room is already in the pattern.
Cotton jersey and canvas shrink a little on the first warm wash – the product page gives the figure, usually 3–4% in length, and those pieces are cut long to allow for it. Wool and merino do not shrink on a cold wool cycle; they felt if washed hot or tumble dried, which cannot be undone.
Because every fabric has one, and finding out after you have worn it is how returns happen. Merino pills at first, linen creases, black cotton fades, cotton knit grows when hung wet. It is all written on the page, in a “worth knowing” note, before you buy.
No. Fine merino pills where it rubs for the first few weeks as loose fibres work their way out. A wool comb takes them off and it reduces with time. It is noted on every merino product page.
Grams per square metre: the weight of the fabric. A 180 gsm tee is light and cool; a 260 gsm tee is heavy, opaque and holds its shape. It is the most useful single number for comparing two tees online.
Rarely, and we list them. A 2% elastane in the chino for movement, 8% polyamide in the brushed cardigan so the yarn holds together, modal in one tee. The percentage is on the product page.
Because we think basics look better without one. Nothing we sell carries a logo, a printed or embroidered wordmark, a patch or an outside label. There is a plain fabric tab inside with the size and care instructions.
No. We do not sell copies, replicas, “dupes” or anything described by reference to another label. Our pieces are plain wardrobe basics – a crew-neck tee, a rollneck, a pleated trouser – in shapes that belong to no one, and they are sold under our own name only.

Construction: seams that open, buttons that come off, buttonholes that fray, ribbing or cuffs that lose their stretch, elastic waistbands that fail. For 1 year from delivery, under normal wear and the care on the label, we repair or replace the piece and pay postage both ways.
The things the product page told you about: pilling, shrinkage within the stated figure, fading, creasing, felting from a hot wash or dryer, snags, and ordinary wear over time.
